LISW21 retrospective

The Shipping Risk Forum, the first international conference coordinated by the London marine insurance market stakeholders, was hosted by Maritime London on September 14 as part of the London International Shipping Week 2021. The event was organised in partnership with the International Group of P&I Clubs (IGP&I), International Underwriting Association (IUA), London & International Insurance Brokers Association (LIIBA) and Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA).
The Forum served as a platform for over 2o experts to discuss a broad range of topical issues affecting the marine insurance sector over four sessions (view agenda here) in front of a limited audience at the newly opened International Dispute Resolution Centre in St Paul’s, London, coupled with a live video streamed to online attendees.
Jos Standerwick, Chief Executive of Maritime London said: “LISW21 provided the perfect opportunity to hold the first Shipping Risk Forum, held in partnership with the primary insurance associations based in the London market. We had nearly 500 participants from over 50 countries in person and online, as the panels traversed some of the leading issues currently at affecting the marine insurance market.
“I would like to offer my sincere thanks to the partners in this event and the organising committee, which is made up of leading figures from across the market, all of whom put a huge amount of time and energy in organising the conference, in what can only be described as uncertain circumstances. I would also like to thank the world class line up of panellists from across the marine insurance disciplines, marine insure tech, shipowning, maritime law, ship finance, recruitment and government.”
