The Seafarers’ Charity congratulates its President, The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Forfar, on becoming His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh.
The General Council and staff of The Seafarers’ Charity are delighted to congratulate our President, The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Forfar, on becoming His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh and send him many happy returns on his birthday.
The Dukedom was previously held by His Royal Highness’s father, our former President, the late Prince Philip, from 1947 until his passing in 2021.
Paul Butterworth, Chair of the General Council said:
“I am delighted to send best wishes and congratulations on behalf of The Seafarers’ Charity to our President on his birthday and congratulate him on assuming this historic Dukedom. For many, this title has only been known to be held by the late Prince Philip.
It is a wonderful tribute to Prince Edward’s dedication to many of the causes held dear by his father, including that of President of The Seafarers’ Charity, that His Majesty The King has bestowed this honour upon him.
Many congratulations to the new Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and Happy Birthday Prince Edward!”
