International law firm Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) is pleased to announce that London Partner Nigel Thomas has been elected the firm’s new Chairman, following Frank Dunne’s decision to stand down from the role he has held since 2004.
One of the world’s leading maritime lawyers, Nigel joined WFW in 1987, prior to which he was an investment banker with Lazard.
Nigel replaces Frank Dunne, also a leading maritime lawyer and a WFW Partner since 1984. In mid- 2016, Frank moved to New York to further strengthen WFW’s US Maritime practice, which has expanded significantly in recent years.
Nigel commented: “I am honoured that my fellow Partners have chosen me as Chairman of the firm where I have spent almost my entire professional career and to which I am deeply committed. As Chairman, I will continue to honour and uphold the firm’s values of respect, sharing, communication and integrity, as well as actively promote the expertise and talent WFW offers around the world”.
Frank commented: “Nigel is an excellent choice as Chairman. He will have my full support as I continue to dedicate my time and energy to the exciting challenges of my new role in New York and in supporting the firm’s world-leading Maritime practice”.
Managing Partners Chris Lowe and Lothar Wegener added: “Frank has been an inspirational Chairman and we would like to thank him for his commitment and hard work. We welcome Nigel to his new role. He will be a fantastic Chairman and ambassador for WFW”.
