Maritime London Chief Executive Jos Standerwick hosted the ’Cyber Security in Shipping: Prevention and Compliance’ hybrid event, which was held in co-operation with the British Embassy in Greece on March 31, 2021.
The open-to-all webinar, which kicked off the event, brought together some of the leading practitioners from the London market – including Julian Clark, Senior Partner, Ince; Laurie Eve, Director – Retail, Inmarsat Maritime; Andrew Hill, Executive Director, Product Innovation/Complex Claims Counsel, Willis Towers Watson; Anu Khurmi, Managing Director, Templar Executives – to examine the risks, the implications of a data breach, the legislation and solutions to support shipowners, managers and charterers in securing their data.
Managing big data directly from vessels has become an essential component supporting commercial decision making and regulatory compliance. The big data imperative has consequently put the spotlight on the protection of that data and has been exemplified in the IMO’s resolution ‘Maritime Cyber Risk Management in Safety Management Systems’, implemented in January 2021.
The webinar was followed by networking and a roundtable discussion between the presenters and representatives of the Greek shipowning community. Attendees also had an opportunity to visit Expo stands.
