Kelly Tolhurst MP, who was appointed the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport during the UK government reshuffle last week, is to be the new Minister responsible for Maritime, it was announced today.
Maritime London Chief Executive Jos Standerwick commented: “Maritime London welcomes the appointment of Kelly Tolhurst as Minister for Maritime. With her background in the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy, the new Minister is perfectly placed to progress the commercial shipping agenda within government”.
“Changing global tax norms, the fast evolving ship finance environment, coupled with the need for the sector to decarbonise, has created a unique opportunity for the UK. I look forward to working with the Minister to ensure we capitalise on it.”
