International commercial law firm Hill Dickinson is celebrating double success for its apprenticeship programme.
The firm was awarded Best School-Leaver/Apprenticeship Initiative at the prestigious HR in Law Awards, held at The Honourable Artillery Company in London on 4 May. The annual awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of HR professionals operating in the legal sector. Over 300 people attended the event, which was hosted by presenter and comedian Katherine Ryan.
Following the award win, the firm was named in the UK’s top 100 most popular employers for school leavers for a second consecutive year. The top 100 list, run by the All About Group, reveals the most popular UK employers as voted for by 9,000 school and further education students in years 10-13.
Since 2012, Hill Dickinson has recruited more than 40 apprentices across its UK offices with its fifth intake due to join the firm in September. The two-year apprenticeship scheme combines on-the-job training while studying towards a nationally recognised qualification.
In 2015, the firm broadened its apprenticeship programme and introduced apprenticeships across its business support function including HR, IT and marketing.
Commenting on the success of the firm’s apprentice scheme, Sarah Pickerill, head of talent and development at Hill Dickinson, said: “We are delighted our apprentice scheme is not only rated highly by our own apprentices but also getting industry recognition. As a commercial law firm, it is important that we adopt a modern approach to recruitment and provide alternative career paths for all, right across the legal sector.”
CEO, Peter Jackson, added: “These are fantastic achievements which emphasise the importance we place on our apprenticeship programme. We understand the value and fresh approach apprentices bring to our business and we look forward to welcome our fifth intake of apprentices in September.”
