The IMO Pollution Prevention and Response Sub-Committee is where discussions on prevention of pollution in the marine environment take place prior to agreement by the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC). This meeting will be held remotely from 4 – 8 April 2022.
The Agenda Preview covers expected discussions and includes an executive summary for those requiring a general overview, with more technical information and explanations for those who would like more detail.
Key items include:
- Ballast Water – Finalisation of revised Guidance on methodologies that may be used for enumerating viable organisms for type approval of BWMS and agreement on renewal survey dates.
- AFS Convention and Biofouling – Finalisation of guidelines on survey, inspection and certification of AFS.
- Black Carbon and HFO in the Arctic – Development of guidelines.
- Fuel, Air Pollution and NOx – Review to take account of multiple engine profiles, cycles and engine families/engine groups.
- Exhaust Gas Treatment – Development of risk assessment framework for discharge of discharge water.
